Reports to the Portfolio Holders for:

Support the delivery of the Progress with Unity missions and Council Plan
Build on Wigan’s strong prevention and early intervention offer, helping more people to stay well and independent, and reducing the need for more intensive support
Promote action to improve population health and reduce health inequalities, recognising the wider social, economic and environmental factors that shape people’s health and ensuring these are considered across council and partnership priorities
Promote the use of evidence, population health intelligence and community insight to understand need and inequalities, inform priorities and strengthen the case for investment in prevention
Champion asset-based and community-led approaches, building on the strengths, relationships and resources of individuals, families and communities to help people stay well, connected and independent
Represent and champion Wigan’s prevention and population health priorities within Greater Manchester, ensuring wider opportunities and partnership activity reflect the needs of Wigan Borough

Build on Wigan’s strong prevention offer, helping more people to stay well and independent and reducing the need for more intensive support
Develop prevention at neighbourhood level, joining up services, partners and community assets around the needs of local communities
Reduce health inequalities, with a particular focus on communities and groups experiencing the poorest health outcomes
Deliver the Creating Health ambitions, supporting people to live healthier lives and addressing the wider factors that influence health
Maximise Greater Manchester opportunities, investment and collaboration that can support Wigan’s prevention and public health ambitions
