Direct care

Helping others

This includes roles where you are working directly with people who need care and support such as:

  • Care Worker
  • Reablement/Rehabilitation Worker
  • Shared Lives Carer.

Care management

Demand for management skills is increasing and opportunities to progress are good. There are also opportunities to ensure the quality-of-care services and in delivery of training and assessment services. Roles involved in supervising or managing direct care delivery include:

  • Team Leader
  • Registered Care Home Manager.

Regulated professional roles

These roles mean you must be registered with a regulated body to practice and frequently require a degree or diploma for example:

  • Nurse
  • Social Worker
  • Occupational Therapist
  • Counsellor
  • Complimentary Therapist.
