Starting Point Plus is a free service to advise and support people aged 50 and over (or under 50 with a disability) and their carers.
The aim of the service is to enable you to maintain your independence and make your own decisions.
We can help you access a range of services and organisations to enable you to live comfortably and independently within your own home.
What can we help with?
We can refer you to other organisations for help with the following:
- Painters and decorators
- Joiners
- Plasterers
- Electricians
- Plumbers
- Tilers
- Landscapers
- Gardeners and tree fellers
- Hairdressers
- Toe nail cutting
- Handypersons
- Social activities - including for those with Dementia.
You can also access external services through our Good Trader Scheme who are approved by Trading Standards. The trades people are closely monitored for your peace of mind, and to ensure delivery of high standards of service.
If you need help with everyday needs such as shopping, cleaning, ironing and low level personal care we can tell you about reputable Domiciliary Care Agencies.
If you are a disabled person, or their carer, we can tell you about help with:
- General benefit advice
- Aids and adaptations (including funding and grants)
- Filling in forms
- Self help groups
- Accessing holidays within the UK.
