Does your project need a share of £20 million funding?
We are pleased to announce that Leigh has now secured £20 million through the national Pride in Place Programme.
Following extensive work throughout 2024 and 2025, Leigh Neighbourhood Board submitted the town’s Regeneration Plan to government in late 2025. The plan was formally approved in March 2026, confirming the full £20m funding allocation for Leigh.
The plan sets out a 10-year vision to improve the town centre, support local communities and address key challenges facing the area. It sets a clear direction for the broad types of projects and activities, but no specific projects have been approved for funding yet.
This stage is about identifying the right local projects to fund.
Funding applications - now open
To build a strong pipeline of deliverable, impactful projects, the board is launching two funds which are now open for applications:
- The Leigh Fund: applications are invited from Leigh’s residents, businesses, public sector organisations, charities, community and voluntary groups, for projects that transform how people see and experience our town and/or create a safe and welcoming town. This fund is for medium to large projects (both capital and revenue)
- The Community Fund: applications are invited from the community and voluntary sector for small scale community-led activity that builds pride, cohesion and connections. This fund will provide grants of up to £2,000 (revenue).

To help potential applicants understand the process and shape their proposals, we will be holding the following events:

- Monday 11th May - 12pm to 1pm
- Tuesday 19th May - 5pm to 6pm.
Drop in sessions at Leigh Library
- Friday 15th May - 10am to 12pm
- Thursday 21st May - 11am to 1pm
- Friday 5th June - 11am to 1pm.
