Market Place Corridor
With Civic Square already being transformed, there are plans to improve the space adjacent to Market Place (B5215) between Lord Street and St. Mary’s Way.
The scheme will make it easier and safer for people to walk around and enjoy the area, linking town centre retail and the Civic Quarter (Square, Turnpike, and Library) which is becoming a lively space for cultural and community events.
Status
Consultations took place in April and May 2025 on the proposed scheme.
Next steps
- Detailed design completed early Summer 2025
- Contractor procured late Summer 2025
- Construction started in Autumn 2025
- Market Place Corridor completed Spring 2026.
