The Leigh Market Hall project will refresh the existing market by creating a more attractive and comfortable environment for traders and customers.
The work will secure the future of the market building and improve the image of the market and town centre. This will attract more visitors and encourage better trade.
Status
Initial ideas for redeveloping the Market Hall were created for the original funding bid. After testing different options and talking to stakeholders, design principles were set to guide the project.
DAY Architects have been hired to develop the design. They will get in-depth community engagement to ensure the Hall is designed with input from key stakeholders, community groups, and access groups.
The latest proposals will be available soon.
Consultation
In Spring 2025, two key consultations took place. One was a series of workshops with groups of traders. The other was an online survey of the public.
Our partners, Next Phase, have led consultation and engagement from an early stage of the project, and communication with stakeholders is still ongoing.
