Support for developers

What is the Developer Hub?

The Developer Hub is an online tool to help developers navigate and understand all aspects of the housing development process. We want to help YOU bring forward high quality, affordable and accessible homes to meet Wigan’s current and future housing needs.

We know that there are four main barriers to housing development - access to land, planning, funding and skills.

This hub is designed to take you through each of those barriers successfully, providing you with clear, concise and relevant information so that your development journey is as simple and straightforward as possible.

Support for those affected by coronavirus (COVID-19)

If your business is affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we urge you to contact our business engagement team to see how they can support you.

What we offer

Our dedicated team offer a free and independent service to help you plan, find funding and build your housing project. It’s available to any developer bringing forward a housing scheme in the borough.

We can arrange an appointment to provide specialist advice and support and have links to internal departments and external partner organisations that can offer advice on:

Partnership working

They can help support businesses in developing learning cultures, building skills and retaining talent, which is crucial in the modern day labour market.

Greater Manchester (GM) Chamber of Commerce

Greater Manchester's  Chamber of Commerce is an organisation dedicated to providing support and networking for all types of businesses. They organise a variety of events designed specifically for the property and construction sector. Events range from informal meet and greet sessions to topical property events and seminars.

They also support the Wigan Bolton and Bury Construction Club where businesses can link in with a high-level network, working collaboratively and sharing good practice. These events are held three times a year in each of the local authority areas – see further event details and how to book (external link).

Make an appointment

Developers, like you, are crucial partners in our aspirations for the borough. We can arrange an appointment to discuss how we can support you at a location and time suitable to you.

Join our developer forum

If you’re a small-scale developer looking for an opportunity to network with other developers and leaders from across the housing sector, why not come along to our SME developer forum?
