How long is the membership agreement for?

The agreement, under the name Debit Finance Collections, is for a minimum of 3 months, along with an up-front pro-rata payment. Please ensure you read the terms and conditions on the front and reverse of the service contract before you sign it.

What happens after the 3 month period?

Payments will continue to be taken from your bank account under the name of Debit Finance until the Leisure Centre receives email confirmation that you wish to cancel your Direct Debit. Please allow a month’s notice for cancellation. You will need to email your cancellation request to swimming@bewellwigan.org

Are there any additional benefits to paying by Direct Debit?

Yes. It’s hassle free and your child will be entitled to free swimming during casual / family swim times.

How do I get free swimming for my child?

Once your Direct Debit has been set up you just need to bring your child’s Be Well lifestyle card with you when you want to come swimming.

Are there any conditions to the free swimming pass?

Yes. You must bring your child’s Be Well lifestyle card on each visit to get the free swimming. If you fail to do so you will be charged full junior price (no exceptions). Be Well lifestyle cards are non-transferable and should only be used by the named person. All under 8s must be accompanied by an adult.

Do lessons take place during holiday periods?

We currently run a 50 week learn to swim programme. Lessons continue during all school and bank holidays, with the exception of a 2 week break over the Christmas period. We will give you advance notice of the Christmas break and any changes to lesson times affected by building operating hours. Look out for notices on these when you attend lessons.

What happens if the lessons are cancelled?

No alterations to your monthly payment will be made as this has been factored into the monthly fee. Your child will continue to access free casual swimming at any of the leisure centre pools managed by Wigan Council. If lessons are affected for a continuous period of more than 2 consecutive weeks you will be entitled to a pro-rata refund in respect of the period of unavailability.

What happens if my child is unable to attend swimming lessons due to injury or illness?

A pro-rata refund payment would be made for any injury or illness supported by a doctor’s note that prevents your child from attending lessons for a period longer than two weeks. This must be requested at the beginning of your child’s illness/injury.

Can I change the day / time of my child’s lesson?

Yes, just contact reception and they will be able to advise you on availability. If a convenient day / time cannot be arranged immediately you will be placed on a priority waiting list and contacted as soon as a space becomes available.

What happens if I miss a payment?

You will be informed by Debit Finance Collections (DFC) that a payment has been missed and a late payment fee will be issued. Failure to make payment after being notified will result in your child being removed from the programme. It’s your responsibility to ensure that contact details are kept up to date.

How do I cancel my Direct Debit?

It’s essential that you inform the Leisure Centre prior to cancelling your Direct Debit at the bank, as this will incur charges from DFC. Cancellation requests must be put in writing and emailed to the leisure centre, providing one month notice.
