Alley gating

Alley gates are installed in alley ways to control access to the rear and to the sides of houses, and to help reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in the area.

The gates are lockable, and keys are only available to the residents who live in the gated block, or anyone who requires permanent access, for example garage access and business access. Our gates are usually black in colour and have rounded tops.

We no longer have a programme for installing alley gates across the borough, but may consider them in exceptional circumstances.

If you are experiencing incidents of anti-social behaviour or environmental crime it is important that you report it to us.

Report any criminal activity to the police on 101, or in an emergency, 999.
