Primary school admissions

If your child was born between 1st September 2014 and 31st August 2015, they will start reception class at the start of the new school year in September 2019.

The closing date for on time applications was 15th January 2019.

National Offer Day 16th April 2019

If you applied online for a reception class place for your child before 15th January 2019, you will be able to view your offer online from 16th April 2019.

Allocation emails for applicants who applied online will be sent from 9am on 16th April. You do not need to wait for your email to view your result as you can follow the link above to the Admissions Portal and log in at any time from 16th April.

All applicants will also receive a letter with details of your offered school. The letter includes an acceptance slip which must be returned to the offered school to accept or refuse the place offered. It is important to note that accepting a place at the school offered will not affect how an appeal is heard.

If you have been refused one or more of your preferences your letter will include details of how places were allocated and how to appeal.

If you applied after the closing date (15th January 2019) you will receive the result of your application by the end of May. If you have not yet made an application or if you would like to submit new preferences please see the section below on late applications.

Please note - If you change your preferences and we are able to offer a place based on your new form, we will automatically withdraw the original offer if one was made.

We will only look at late applications and late changes of preference after we have dealt with the applications we received on time. This means that you are less likely to get a place at the school you want.

If any of the schools you want your child to go to is a Wigan voluntary aided primary school the governors will need extra information so that they can consider your application against their faith criteria. If you do not give this information your child may be refused a place.

You are strongly advised to complete a supplementary information form for each voluntary aided school you name as a preference. Parents are responsible for checking that supplementary forms sent by post have been received by the school.
