If your child was born between 1 September 2012 and 31 August 2013, they will start reception class at the start of the new school year in September 2017.
The closing date for on time applications was 15 January 2017.
The online application service (external link) is now closed. Applicants can still access the service to change their personal details if necessary.
Offer Day Update - If you applied online and indicated that you would like to receive your offer by email, allocation emails will be sent from 9am on Tuesday 18 April 2017. Online applicants can also view their offer online from Tuesday 18 April (available from 00:01am) by logging into the Citizen Portal (external link). (Due to Easter weekend, allocation letters and emails will be sent on 18 April 2017, not 16 April 2017 as previously indicated)
Web chat - please note that we can't share allocation details via Web Chat. If you are using Web Chat to find out the school your child has been allocated, please close the Web Chat session and call us on 01942 489013.
If you have not yet applied for a primary school place, or you wish to change your mind about the preferences or the order of preferences after the closing date, you must complete a late application form.
We will only look at late applications and late changes of preference after we have dealt with the applications we received on time. This means that you are less likely to get a place at the school you want.
It is important that you read the ‘Applying for a place at primary school 2017/18’ booklet below before making your application.
If you need any help please contact the School Organisation Team on 01942 489013.
If any of the schools you want your child to go to is a Wigan voluntary aided primary school the governors will need extra information so that they can consider your application against their faith criteria. If you do not give this information your child may be refused a place. You are strongly advised to complete a supplementary information form for each voluntary aided school you name as a preference.
