In work progression

Are you a Wigan resident who wants to improve their pay and skills via our free of charge new service? Do you need support to move into work in a new career, or are you seeking to progress and get a promotion, more hours or access to training? Participants need to be at least 18 and employed.

The In Work Progression service is a new free offer that will support Wigan residents who are in low paid work to overcome skills barriers, increase confidence and provide specialist information leading to better paid, more stable employment. Participants need to be 18+ and employed (full or part time).

Advisers will support you to find new roles and progression opportunities while developing your confidence in applying for jobs and training.

Our friendly team can offer the following:

  • 1-1 support advice on local opportunities.
  • Identifying your best skills and looking at how you can use these in better paid roles.
  • Support you to work with your employer to progress within your current role.
  • Specialist information on the local jobs market and new/growth sectors.
  • Review your skills gaps and identify suitable training available.
  • Help you create a better CV/Social media profile, complete an application online etc.
  • Help preparing for interviews.
