Applying for secondary schools in 2019
If your child will turn 11 between 1st September 2018 and 31st August 2019, he or she will transfer to secondary school at the start of the new school year in September 2019.
The online application process is now open. You should have received a letter from us to remind you to apply. The letter contains your child's Unique Identification Number (UID) which the Admissions Portal may ask for when you apply. If the Admissions Portal does not ask for your UID it means that your child’s details have automatically been matched to their record and you won’t need to enter it. If you have not received your letter, you can still apply without the UID.
If you need any help using the online service, please contact the School Organisation Team on 01942 489013.
It is very important that you read the 'Applying for a place at secondary school 2019/20' booklet before making your application as it contains important information about the allocation process.
The closing date for applications is 31st October 2018.
Any applications received after this date will be classed as late.
If any of the schools you want your child to go to is a Wigan voluntary aided high school the governors will need extra information so that they can consider your application against their faith criteria. If you do not give this information your child may be refused a place.
You are strongly advised to complete a supplementary information form for each voluntary aided school you name as a preference. This must be returned to the relevant school before the closing date of 31st October 2018. It is your responsibility to check that any information sent by post has been received by the school.
The Council has a legal responsibility to protect the data it collects. A copy of the School Admissions and Appeals Service Privacy Notice can be downloaded.
