Applying for secondary schools in 2019

If your child will turn 11 between 1st September 2018 and 31st August 2019, he or she will transfer to secondary school at the start of the new school year in September 2019.

National Offer Day 1st March 2019

If you applied online for a secondary school place for your child before 31st October 2018, you will be able to view your offer online from 1st March 2019.

You will also receive your result by email. If you have been refused one or more of your preferences you will also receive a letter with details of how places were allocated and how to appeal.

If you applied on a paper application form you will receive your result by letter. Late applicants will also be notified of their result by letter.

Please wait for your letter to arrive. If your letter has not arrived by 4th March 2019, please contact The School Organisation Team on 01942 489013.

Late applications

If you have not yet applied for a secondary school place, or you wish to change your mind about the preferences or the order of preferences after the closing date, you must complete a late application form.

Please note - If you change your preferences and we are able to offer a place based on your new form, we will automatically withdraw the original offer if one was made.

Please do not use this form to apply for a school transfer. You must apply via the moving schools page to apply for a school transfer.

It is very important that you read the 'Applying for a place at secondary school 2019/20' booklet before making your application.

Church Forms

If any of the schools you want your child to go to is a Wigan voluntary aided high school the governors will need extra information so that they can consider your application against their faith criteria. If you do not give this information your child may be refused a place.

You are strongly advised to complete a supplementary information form for each voluntary aided school you name as a preference. This must be returned to the relevant school.

It is your responsibility to check that any information sent by post has been received by the school.
