Council Tax communication methods

To provide the best possible support, the Council Tax Collection team uses a variety of methods to contact you. This includes outbound telephone calls, text messages, emails, letters and home visits. 

We currently have an E-Billing campaign with prize draw, details of which are on our Council Tax E-Billing page. This prize draw is running up until 31st January 2026 and we are actively promoting this to customers.

Text messages

Please be aware that we actively use text messaging to contact our customers, the sender ID we use is Wigan BC.

The message will contain a link at the bottom of the text to the specific details of the communication. 

Emails

We are actively emailing customers using Gov.Notify. The message contains a link to sign up or log in to MyAccount but also details how customers can find information directly, by searching ‘E-billing’ on the council website, if they do not feel comfortable clicking a link.
