You can now get your Council Tax bill online.
Council Tax E-Billing gives residents more convenience and flexibility in how they prefer to receive their bill.
E-Billing allows you to opt out of receiving paper Council Tax bills and view your bill online, at your convenience.
If there’s more than one person responsible for Council Tax in the household, everyone can sign up to MyAccount and receive an E-Bill if they wish.
How to sign up
Signing up for E-Billing is quick and easy.
- Login or sign up to MyAccount – you just need to use your email address
- Go to 'Council Tax Account' and use your Council Tax reference number (found on your Council Tax bill) to link your account. You'll need to answer a few security questions to confirm your identity
- Click 'Register for E-Billing' and confirm your switch to E-Billing.
Why we are introducing E-Billing and the benefits
We know that for some people being able to access their bills online and keeping a digital copy is preferrable, it is more convenient and allows residents to instantly access their bill and information as and when required.
There are multiple benefits to signing up to E-Billing, including:
- You can access your bill faster 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as and when you require it
- No more paper bills to file
- Helping us use less paper is good for the environment, reduces our carbon footprint and saves money by reducing printing and postage
- You get an instant email notification as soon as your bill is available to view on MyAccount
- You can download or print your bill if you still need to, you can also forward a digital copy of your bill at your convenience
- If you opt for E-Billing and change your mind, you can revert back to receiving your bills through the post by selecting 'De-activate E-Billing' within your MyAccount.
What to do if you can't find your Council Tax reference number
Your 12 digit Council Tax reference number begins with a number 4 and can be found on your Council Tax bill and most other correspondence we have issued to you. If you're struggling to find your reference number or if you don't have a Council Tax bill, you can request your account number be sent to you.
When will you get a bill
You will receive an E-Bill when your next one is due, this may be your annual bill in March each year, or when you have a change in circumstances.
If you need an E-Bill before your next bill is due, you can request a copy online.
Once your new bill has been processed it will be available to view in MyAccount the next working day.
Is this just for Council Tax bills?
E-Billing is currently only available for your Council Tax bill, it does not include other Council Tax correspondence.
We are continuing to develop our digital offer but at this time, any other correspondence in respect of your Council Tax account will continue to be sent by post or email.
