Other ceremonies
Wherever possible, our professional and experienced staff will work with you to create an occasion to remember, tailoring ceremonies with your unique choice of personal readings, poems and music.
Renewal of Vows
We offer couples the perfect opportunity to recreate the magic of their wedding day.
Perhaps you wish to celebrate a special anniversary or were married abroad and would like to say "I do" in the presence of family and friends. Whatever the reason, renewing you vows can strengthen your commitment to each other and bring back wonderful memories.
All of our venues and approved premises are available for this event, as well as other venues within the borough (not private homes).
Baby Naming / Family Welcoming
A naming ceremony is a special, non-religious way of celebrating the birth of your baby and welcoming stepchildren or an adoptive child into a new family.
This unique occasion allows everyone to feel involved by pledging their love and support for your child’s future. You can create something personal to remember and treasure as your children grow.
All of our venues and approved premises are available for this event, as well as other venues within the borough (not private homes).
Celebration ceremonies
Have you recently been married abroad or away from your home town and not everyone could attend? Why not consider a celebration ceremony?
Similar to a marriage ceremony, you’ll make promises and commitments to each other and can exchange rings again if you wish.
All of our venues and approved premises are available for this event, as well as other venues within the borough (not private homes).
Civil Partnership
Although same sex marriage is now legal in England, you may prefer to have a civil partnership.
Civil partnership is a legal relationship that gives same-sex couples the rights and responsibilities similar to those in a civil marriage.
All of our venues and approved premises are available for this ceremony and just like a civil marriage, we’re on hand to accommodate any special requirements, including readings, music and more.
Citizenship Ceremonies
Once you have received your letter of approval from the Home Office to become a British Citizen, you can book a citizenship ceremony with us.
Group ceremonies are held at Wigan Town Hall on the last Wednesday of every month. The ceremony is attended by the Mayor, and the Deputy Lieutenant (representing Her Majesty the Queen).
Private citizen ceremonies can also be arranged to take place for an additional cost, on a day of your choosing.
