Adult learning courses

Courses are available for individuals aged 19 and above in Learning Zone 2 on the Mezzanine floor. Courses available include, Maths, English, CV writing, job searching and Computers for Beginners.

Visually impaired reading group (VIP’s)

First Tuesday of the month, 10.30am - 11.30am

A Reading group for those with visual impairments, there is a wide selection of talking books available in the library for the group to access and discuss.

Coffee morning for Deaf and Blind people

Every Friday, 11am - 1pm

A chance for those who have visual and hearing impairments to meet, have a chat and support each other.

Golden Girls

Every Wednesday, 1pm - 3pm

Friendship group with regular guest speakers.

Knitted Bliss

Every Tuesday, 10.30am - 1.30pm

A group for anyone who enjoys knitting to come along to where you can improve your knitting skills, learn new things and meet new people.

More than Words

Every Wednesday, 10:30am - 12:15pm and every Thursday, 1:15pm - 3:15pm, meeting in the performing arts library.

More Than Words evolved from a local authority dramatherapy project led by a small group of health and social care professionals. It was established in February 2011, with the aim of making the experience of performing arts accessible to everyone, in particular young people and adults with disabilities and/or autism.

Read Easy

Every Monday and Thursday, 10:00am - 11:00am meeting in the central library area.

Read Easy UK provides a volunteer-led reading coaching programme for adults. A Reader and their Coach meet for half an hour at a time, twice a week, in one of a range of approved local reading venues which provide space free of charge.

Library Coffee Morning

Fourth Thursday of the month, 10:30am - 11:30am.

Free informal drop in session which promotes social interaction over a cup of tea or coffee.
