Help to Keep It Clean

The Council is working to make it as easy as possible for people to dispose of their waste responsibly.

This includes:

  • Ensuring we have the right bins, in the right place, at the right time with over 2,000 bins supplied and maintained by the council
  • Free access to the household waste recycling centres for local residents to dispose of household waste
  • Two bulky waste collections of up to five items in any 12 month period, with any extra collections of up to five items costing just £25
  • Waste amnesties - every ward will have a waste amnesty visit in 2023, giving people the opportunity to dispose of unwanted items. Visit our Waste and Recycling Amnesty webpage for more information.

We received over 2500 reports of litter or fly-tipping in 2021/22; nearly 50 a week.

We take enforcement action against these offences, issuing fines and prosecuting those who commit these crimes with a team of 15 people employed to investigate, educate and prosecute for fly-tipping.

Our ask of local residents and visitors to our borough is simple, Keep It Clean!

Get rid of your litter in a bin; if you have large items to get rid of use our bulky waste service or a licensed waste collector; and work with us to keep our borough clean.
