Applying for a reception class place for September 2024

If your child was born between 1st September 2019 and 31st August 2020, they will start reception class at the start of the new school year in September 2024.

The closing date for on time applications was 15 January 2024.

The online application service (external link) is now closed. Applicants can still access the service to change their personal details if necessary. Offers will be sent out by email and available to view online on 16 April 2024.

Late Applications

If you have not yet applied for a primary school place, or you wish to change your mind about the preferences or the order of preferences after the closing date, you must complete a late application form.

We will only look at late applications and late changes of preference after we have dealt with the applications we received on time.  This means that you are less likely to get a place at the school you want.

It is important that you read the ‘Applying for a place at primary school 2024/25’ booklet below before making your application.

If you need any help using the online service please contact the School Organisation Team on 01942 489013.

Application forms are also available from Wigan primary schools.

The closing date for applications is 15 January 2024.

Any applications received after this date will be classed as late. We will only look at late applications after we have dealt with the applications we receive on time. This means that you are less likely to get a place at the school you want.

Supplementary Forms

If any of the schools you want your child to go to is a Wigan voluntary aided (church) primary school the governors will need extra information so that they can consider your application against their faith criteria. If you do not give this information your child may be refused a place.

You are strongly advised to complete a supplementary information form for each voluntary aided school you name as a preference.

Forms are available on our church school forms webpage or by requesting a copy from the school.

Parents are responsible for checking that supplementary forms sent by post have been received by the school.
