Town centres

Town centre management

We provide support for local businesses and public/private sector co-operation in tackling the issues that affect our town centres and their long-term vitality and success.

If you would like to inform us about a community event or to raise any issues regarding a town centre, please contact us quoting 'Town centre' in the subject line.

Markets

Markets have long been an important part of our town centres. Wigan has had a market since King Henry gave the town it’s Royal Charter in 1246 and centuries later the market continues to thrive.

Wigan Borough has two indoor and three outdoor markets located in Wigan, Leigh and Ashton town centres  with a car boot sale in Hindley every Sunday.

Wigan Market Hall relocated as part of the Galleries development and was opened in 1988 followed closely by Leigh Market Hall in 1989. Both market halls have an outdoor market attached to them giving the customer a variety of choice and a unique shopping experience. Ashton town centre is famous for its outdoor market which has been running for many years.

To become part of the success story, find your ideal business location today at one of our markets.
