Bringing the Archives to you!

We know it’s not always easy to come and visit us in person, so we created a collection of brilliant resources for you to try at home.

So even if you can’t see us in person you can enjoy our amazing local history and your local Archives!

Baking

Our volunteers have been busy testing historic recipes straight from our Archives, so that you can try them too.

Don’t forget to tag us over on Instagram @archiveswigleigh (external link) or on the  and share your amazing bakes!

Games

One thing that hasn’t changed over time is how much fun it is to play games with your mates. We’ve gathered a collection of old games for you to try at home, inspired by the Archive collection, some dating back thousands of years.

Photo trails

Our collection has some amazing photographs that tell us what life was like a hundred years ago, but we want to keep it growing! We’ve made these handy photo trails for you to try which will help you get out and about, learn more about your town and give you the opportunity to have your photographs saved in our Archives for years to come.

Get creative

Here at Archives: Wigan and Leigh we love any excuse to be creative, so we’ve been hosting some online Archives Craft sessions for our visitors near and far to enjoy. To get stuck in, join us on the  and don’t forget to share your creations with us over on Instagram @archiveswigleigh (external link)
