Children looked after

When a child is looked after by the council we have a duty to undertake regular reviews of each child’s case.

An independent reviewing officer (IRO) will attend a meeting to discuss and review the plan of care for the child, which may include practical arrangements and long term plans, then a number of actions will be agreed. Reviews are held normally every 6 months but in some circumstances may be more frequent.
