Wigan SEND Co-Production Charter
The SEND Co-production Charter was created to help ensure children and young people’s voices are always be heard.
It has been based on Wigan’s Children’s Services Participation Strategy. This strategy was co-produced by children and young people on what they thought was effective and ineffective participation based on the Lundy Model of Participation.
The SEND Co-production charter sets out a way of working that enables children and young people with SEND, their families, Parent Carer Forum and wider community organisations to work in equal partnership with education, health and social carer partners to design, develop and evaluate the services available in Wigan to meet their needs.
Our Co-production Charter Principles
In line with out Progress with Unity missions, we have created this charter to support our commitment to improving our communities. We want young people to engage, participate and co-produce with us. We are committed to making sure our projects will be easily understandable for all.
These principles are about the way we all work together to create a culture where we all:
- Have equal opportunities, from start to finish
- Share ideas together and listen deeply to one another
- Value and respect each other’s opinion
- Be supportive of each other
- Be welcoming, accepting and inclusive of everyone
- Be accountable, honest and kind to all
- Know how out views are used, with people at the heart of conversations
- Take ownership and support co-production by all.
