Wigan Athletic Women and Wigan Warriors Women Club Connect free event

Panel event with Catherine Kelly, CEO, Calisen, Brenda Spencer, non-exec Chair, Sarah Guilfoyle, Managing Director Wigan Athletic, Amy Lawson, Chief Brand and Corporate Affairs Officer, Sage, Anna Davies, Wigan Warriors Women first team player, Brodie Hampson, Jockey and Tote Ambassador. Breakfast baps, tea and coffee are provided.

Soroptimist International Leigh and District event

The day will include arts and crafts, information on women’s health and wellbeing, refreshments, heritage activities and fair-trade stalls.

Craft and rave

This event combines creative activities with great music. Whether you want to get hands-on with crafting or spend time on the dance floor, it’s a welcoming space to unwind and enjoy yourself. Come along with friends and make the most of a day that brings creativity and music together.

Family Hub activities

Clifton Street Family Hub

Coffee morning filled with connection, conversation and community. Free refreshments and a chance to celebrate the strength, kindness and resilience of women. Everyone is welcome.

Following the launch event, the Meadows Family Hub will be holding a weekly girls club peer support session every Monday from 10am to 11.30am. The girls club will offer a safe, welcoming space for women to come together and talk openly about their mental health without judgement. Sessions are peer‑led and include meaningful conversations, shared experiences, and practical tools to help manage life’s challenges.

Be Well activities

International Women's Day walk

A gentle, grounding walk through ancient woodland with plenty of time to chat, unwind and feel closer to nature.

International Women's Day bike ride

Meet outside Leigh College. A 24-mile journey exploring our beautiful borough as we head to Borsdane Woods, we'll go at a pace that suits everyone with plenty opportunities to stop, rest and catch up along the way!

What time? 10am to 2.30pm

Both the walk and ride groups will get together for a delicious buffet lunch at The Edington Arms in Hindley.

Walk the Wigan Way

Meet at Haigh Woodland Park visitors centre to celebrate International Women’s Day with a five hour walk along the new Wigan Way route! Take the time to connect with others and enjoy the scenery of post-industrial Wigan. Bring a packed lunch or grab a bite to eat in town. Book your place on Walk the Wigan Way (external link).

Wigan and Leigh Hospice

Wigan and Leigh Hospice invite you to a ladies afternoon tea. Tickets are £32.50 with proceeds going towards Wigan and Leigh Hospice. You will receive a glass of fizz when you arrive and can​ browse self-care stands,​ enjoy finger sandwiches, scones, fresh cakes, tea and coffee.​ All guests will receive a complimentary gift.
