Court records

The court records are available to view at Wigan Archives.

The Archives hold records for many of the courts who have operated within the Borough.

These include records for:

• Wigan Court of Quarter Sessions (WQS)
• Petty Sessional Courts, Wigan and Leigh (PS/Wi; PS/Lei), also known as courts of summary jurisdiction or police courts
• Magistrates' Courts (WMC)
• Coroner's Courts (Wi/CR)
• County Courts (CC/Wi; CC/Lei)
• Wigan and Leigh Licensed Premises (public houses and off-licenses)
• Licensing Act, Registration of Clubs, 1948 - 1958 (PS/Wi/1/19)
