Wigan Council provide high quality affordable properties for rent which meet the needs of local communities. Since 2010, we have built around 500 new homes for rent across the borough, which includes houses, bungalows and apartments. We are planning to build more in the future
We aim to deliver truly accessible and affordable quality housing, with new homes being allocated through a local letting policy, which emphasises a local connection to the borough. Each new tenant will be supported through the process with financial assessments and affordability advice to ensure tenancies are affordable and sustainable.

Applying for a new build property
New build properties for rent are advertised in the same way as all other Wigan Council properties. They are allocated using a local lettings policy specific to the development. You can search for a home and place a bid if you're on the housing register.
Want to buy?
Wigan Council’s affordable homes scheme is aimed at giving people who cannot afford to buy at market value, access to affordable homes on new homes developments.
