Who needs a foster home?

Child Profiles

Please note that all the featured profiles below are not cared for children. These are examples based on some of the children who are currently looking to be fostered.

Alex

Alex is a loving and caring little 6-year-old boy, who enjoys constructing new buildings from Legoand watching cartoons. He also loves playing games outside.

Alex has experienced an unsettling start after being abandoned a number of times and seeing violence between his parents. This has led to him worrying a lot and he lacks self-esteem. We are looking for a family who will be able to support Alex to build his confidence and offer him a stable home to help him flourish.

Family means a lot to Alex and the recent adoption of his brother has impacted him. He worries a lot about his mum and needs lots of reassurance that she is ok. Alex needs foster carers who can dedicate time to focus on him and provide him with a routine to help him understand what is expected of him. Over the last year Alex’s communication skills have really improved and he is slowly building relationships with other children in the family.

Alex needs a family who will be patient and will take the time to make him feel comfortable to express how he feels.

Sophie

Sophie is fifteen years old and has been living in a residential home for the last year. The home is closing, and she would love to be part of a family.

Sophie loves being outdoors and can run quite a distance. Her ambition is to be part of an athletics club and to try out new sports.

Sophie has been mixing with some friends that are older than her and is vulnerable to them encouraging her to run away and come home late. When she feels low, Sophie sometime self-harms. She doesn’t know why she does this yet, but she has been working with a therapist and has made some positive steps to try and manage how she feels in a different way.

Sophie has a rabbit who is really important to her and will need to live with her in her next home. Sophie was diagnosed as having autism at a young age and needs foster carers who understand that sometimes she needs parenting differently.

Ollie

Ollie is a charming, engaging thirteen-year-old who has a great sense of humour. He loves to tell jokes. Ollie enjoys his school although doesn’t always like schoolwork! Ollie likes playing computer games and fantasy card games (loosely based on Dungeons and Dragons) which can also be played on-line.

Ollie had a caring role with his Mum when he lived at home and didn’t have many boundaries. He was also criticised a lot and often says thing like 'I don’t deserve this' when good things happen.

Ollie is fun and has the capacity to draw out warmth in others but can really struggle with friendships. Ollie can sometimes misjudge social interactions but can be empathetic towards others.

Ollie responds well to clear boundaries and expectations and looks forward to having foster carers who will enjoy his fun personality and encourage him with his computer interests.
