We want to share with you key events that are being hosted by the SEND service, Parent Carer Forum or partner organisations that could be beneficial for parent/carers with children with SEND.
Wigan Parent Carer Forum
The Parent Carer Forum is your opportunity to have your say and be part of the design, development and improvement services for disabled children in the local area. They do this by gathering the views of local families and then working in partnership with the local authority, education settings, health providers and other providers to highlight where local services, processes and commissioners are working well, or challenge when changes or improvements need to be made.
Want to get involved? Head over to the Wigan Parent Carer Forum (external link) website to find out more information and be part of the parent carer voices.
SEND Survey
Wigan Council and Wigan Parent Carer Forum are working together to listen to the real experiences of families. What you share will help us understand what’s working well and where change is needed so that we can help shape better support and services together. Your voice is so important, and we truly appreciate your time to complete.
The survey closed on the 17th June 2025. Any updates will be shared.
Annual phased transfer events
The SEND service will host annual transition events which will provide you with important information that you will need to consider when preparing for your child’s phased transfer to primary, secondary school or post-16. This is part of the annual reviews and phased transfer’s process. They will be targeting:
- Early years to primary school
- Primary school to secondary school
We will provide information on the process, but if you miss it you can still access this information via the annual reviews and phased transfer’s webpages, contact your EHCP Coordinator or contact the SEND Team.
Local Offer Live Event
We host an annual Local Offer Live Event, aimed to bring Wigan’s Local Offer to life in one space for children, young people, parent, carers and professionals to access information. We are joined by professionals from social care, education, health and community sectors so you can speak to them directly in one space.
We will share the details when plans for our next event have been confirmed.
