Wigan Council wants to help communities affected by recent flooding share their stories, photos, and experiences so we can work together to reduce future flood risks.
We have sent postcards to households in certain areas of Wigan Borough affected by flooding. You may have also noticed posters in local schools and surgeries.
These postcards and posters include a link which allows you to:
- Get quick, practical advice on what to do before, during, and after a flood
- Connect to a digital assistant you can chat with at any time
- Share your experiences, concerns, and suggestions directly with the Council
- Report flooding incidents direct to the council system without the need to call
Why are we doing this?
Flooding has a big impact on our residents and communities. By collecting your feedback, we can:
- Better understand how flooding affects you and your neighbourhood
- Build stronger business cases to secure funding for flood prevention
- Gather information faster and more effectively in future flood events
Your input helps us create a clearer picture of what’s happening on the ground so we can make better plans to protect our town.
How you can take part
- Check your postcard - If you’ve received one, look for the official Wigan Council logo
- Start a conversation - Scan the QR code or text the number on your postcard to connect with the digital assistant
- Share your experience - Tell us how the flooding affected you, and upload any photos or videos you’d like to share
It only takes a few minutes, but your feedback will help us make Wigan Borough more resilient to flooding.
