King's Honours

Honours are awarded by the King. Most are given on recommendations made by the Prime Minister or other senior Government Ministers. Recommendations come from nominations, made by organisations or members of the public, who are familiar with the work of the candidate. The lists of who’s received honours are published at New Year and on the King’s official birthday in June.

Since 2022, Wigan Council has submitted five nominations.
