Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Our HMO further information webpage provides further information relating to common questions about the licensing process, requirements, and regulations for operating an HMO.

Reporting concerns about an HMO

If you have concerns regarding a House in Multiple Occupancy (HMO), mandatory licensing, or suspect a property to be an unlicensed HMO within the borough you can complete our Houses of multiple occupancy contact form (external link).

Reporting disrepair in an HMO

Before reporting a repair issue that hasn't been dealt with, you must contact your landlord/letting agent in writing to inform them of the repair issue in the first instance.

You will need to provide us with evidence of the correspondence between your landlord/letting agent. You can also provide us with additional evidence in support of the issue(s), i.e. photographs.

If you are a private landlord please get in touch through our landlord contact form.

For matters relating to disrepair within an HMO for which you are a tenant, please visit our Reporting Disrepair webpage.
