Wigan Pier event space to launch with Halloween-themed music night

A group of fantastic musicians will help showcase the borough’s newest event space at Wigan Pier later this month.

The first offering from the new Pier4 presents initiative will see a night of Halloween-themed music, in partnership with Early Doors Club.

It marks the start of an exciting new series of events at the site, following an announcement by Wigan Council earlier this year.

Popular acts Blues Harvest and The Jimi Henson Experience will be taking to the stage on October 31, and given the Halloween theme, fancy dress is very much encouraged.

Councillor Chris Ready, cabinet portfolio holder for communities and neighbourhoods, said: “We’re excited to host this first public event and it’s a significant milestone following our investment in restoring the site.

“It’s great to see this iconic venue back hosting events and ready to support the borough’s live music and entertainment scene.”

The event will take place from 6pm to 9pm with tickets available via the link below and is pitched as an evening of Halloween magic and throwback tunes.

Leader of Wigan Council, Councillor David Molyneux MBE, said: “In addition to the Fettlers regeneration project and the privately funded Cotton Works development, Wigan Pier is another example of significant investment that will support our town centre for generations to come.”

Early Doors Club – who are co-hosting - is a well-established initiative that supports live music and events at venues across the borough.

In August, Wigan Council unveiled new plans for Pier 4 and 5 with a schedule of live music and entertainment.

The launch of the borough’s new cultural strategy was hosted there in September, featuring a guest appearance from The Lathums.

This Pier4 presents: The Early Doors Club with Blues Harvest and The Jimi Henson Experience gig is therefore the first public performance in the new space.

From iconic soundtracks to cult movie anthems, Blues Harvest will have you singing along to hits from across the cinematic universe, while The Jimi Henson Experience will provide a quirky showcase of songs and puppet entertainment, in a joyful tribute to American puppeteer and animator Jim Henson.
