Interim Review of polling districts, polling places and polling stations 2022

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) have now issued their recommendations for Wigan Council’s electoral arrangements.

Details of the LGBCE’s final recommendations can be found on Wigan LGBCE website (external link).

The new electoral arrangements/ electoral wards will come into effect for the May 2023 when there will be whole council elections whereby all 75 council seats are up for election.

In preparation for the new ward boundaries coming into effect it has been necessary to undertake an interim review of the boroughs polling districts, the sub-areas into which each ward is divided, and also the polling places, the buildings in which polling stations are located.

The ‘interim’ review took place between 11th July 2022 and ended on 31st July 2022; the last ‘statutory’ review of polling districts / polling stations took place in 2019.

A consultation period took place from Monday 11th July 2022 and ended on Sunday 31st July 2022.

All comments and any responses from the (Acting) Returning Officer will be published. It is the (Acting) Returning Officer’s role to select the polling stations.
