Get active

Healthy Tent

Stay in, work out

Regular exercise is a great way to improve your physical and mental wellbeing. You don’t need to spend hours in the gym or have fancy equipment to get started.

Even moving for 15 minutes each day can make a difference and there are lots of options for exercising at home.

We have made it easy for you to get active this year with free, regular classes and videos on Facebook and YouTube.

Whether you’re a complete beginner looking to move a little more with some gentle stretching or want to try a new class, all you need to do is make some space in your living room, load up a video on your phone or laptop and give it a go!

Weekly workout plan

If you’re looking to ease back into exercise or for a new challenge, have a go at the following workout plan. All videos are on the WellFest YouTube channel and offer a great mixture of classes, which will not only get your heart pumping, but also give you an opportunity to relax.

Getting back into exercise

We have a range of fantastic programmes and classes on offer for beginners.

Keep dancing

A new free 12 week dance programme can teach you some new moves, get you dancing and support you with nutritional advice and the right tools to help you lose weight.

This programme is all about enjoying yourself with easy to follow dance steps, a supportive environment and trained dance teachers. Join with friends, family, solo or with colleagues. This programme is for anyone 18+ in the Wigan Borough with a BMI of 25 or over.

Couch to 5km

Grab your trainers and take on a new challenge with this group session to take you from a beginner to a 5km runner in just over 10 weeks. Or if you don’t fancy running as part of a group, you can download the app onto your mobile device for free and give it go alone.

Activities in mid to later life

As we get older, moving our body becomes even more important. Whether it’s through exercise, sports, domestic activities, occupation, leisure, or active travel, each time we move in whatever way that suits us, our health and wellbeing gets a boost and we find new ways to socialise.

Whatever your age or health condition, there are plenty of ways to add more physical movement to your life - it’s never too late for exercise to have a positive effect. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to move and connect with others, that’s why we offer several different programmes to help you become more active.
