Our Town's Got Talent

We know that our borough is bursting with local talent so we’re looking for all our sofa superstars to have their moment in the limelight and bring cheer to all our residents from the comfort of their own homes.

We've had to postpone some of the Our Town programme due to the current unprecedented situation, but we know that it’s more important than ever to celebrate the individuals and communities that make our borough the great place it is.

What are we looking for?

Put quite simply, we want you!

Whatever your talent we want you to send us a short video of your performance of up to a maximum of 3 minutes.

Entrant categories include:

  • Singing or musical performance
  • Dance
  • Spoken word (poetry, short story, acting)
  • Party trick
  • Prize pets

There will be three prizes in each category:

  • Age 15 and under
  • Age 16 and over
  • Best household effort

There will also be a special award for the best socially distanced street. So, if you haven’t already sorted out that neighbourhood WhatsApp group, now’s the time to get planning.

How do you enter?

Entries will be accepted from 16th - 3rd May 2020.

If you have a Facebook account join the Our Town’s got talent Facebook group and post your video using the hashtag #OTGT.

If you don’t have a Facebook account you can email ourtown@wigan.gov.uk and we will post your entry for you.

Please note: that by entering the competition you are agreeing to have your video circulated on council social media channels and videos will not be able to be removed once posted. Wigan Council reserves the right to remove any harmful or offensive material or comments.

What’s the prize?

As well as becoming Wigan’s newest social media sensation you’ll also win a takeaway of your choice for your whole household to enjoy. Prize value is limited to £50 per household, or limited to a maximum of 10 households or £500 for the best socially isolated street.

If you have any questions, please contact ourtown@wigan.gov.uk.
