Approved collections and fundraising

This list includes:

• House to house collections (including pub to pub)
• Street collections
• Joint collections (house to house and street collection)
• Collections by National Exemption Order Holders
• Face to face fundraising (please be aware that face to face fundraising is not a regulated activity, however this activity is carried out in co-operation with us). For more information, visit the Public Fundraising Regulatory Association (external link).

Permit/licence exemptions

A number of charitable organisations do not require a permit/licence because they hold a National Exemption Order (external link) issued by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport for collections either carried out by themselves or on their behalf by a commercial fundraising company.

In order to give the town centres and their visitors a break, one week out of six will usually be left free and no collectors/fundraisers will be allowed in Wigan or Leigh town centres during that period (street collections only). We will therefore not consider applications or requests for either area during the following weeks:
