Most allocations and designations on the policies map are from the Unitary Development Plan.
The Local Plan Core Strategy allocates a site at Northleigh as a key strategic site.
The Greater Manchester Joint Waste Plan allocates sites and designates areas in Wigan Borough for waste management.
The Greater Manchester Joint Minerals Plan designates two areas of search for sand and gravel and a mineral safeguarding area.
The policies map will be further amended by the Places for Everyone Plan when it is adopted, scheduled for 2023.
