We are currently consulting on an initial draft of the Wigan Borough Local Plan until 11:59pm on Tuesday 24th June 2025.
The views of residents, businesses and other stakeholders are really important to us. You can view and comment on the initial draft plan on our consultation portal (external link).
The local plan aligns closely with Progress with Unity, a new movement for change in the borough. It has been shaped by a robust evidence base, and extensive community and stakeholder consultation carried out the 'issues and opportunities' in late 2022 and 'options and preferences' stages in late 2023.
The plan includes a suite of policies based around seven key themes including homes, jobs, towns and local centres, transport, places, environment and people.

Consultation Events
During the consultation period, we will be hosting drop-in consultation events at the venues below to enable residents and interested parties to discuss and learn more about the proposed content in the Local Plan with us in person:
