Community recruitment events underway

Wigan Borough residents who play a part in their community are being encouraged to consider a new career with the local authority.

A number of roles across the council’s wide range of services are currently available with anyone interested urged to get in touch.

A series of community recruitment events are taking place across the borough over the coming weeks for those who would like more information or an informal chat about the roles.

Councillor Chris Ready, cabinet member for communities, said: “We know from past experience that our amazing community network has a vast array of talent and life experience that is so valuable.

“There are a number of roles currently available across a range of our services so if you have a caring nature, you’re a good communicator who enjoys working as part of a great team, joining #TeamWigan could be the start of something special.”

The recruitment events are being held at the following venues:

  • Tuesday 22 November 22, 3:30pm to 6:30pm at Higher Folds Community Centre, Leigh
  • Wednesday 23 November 23, 3:30pm to 6:30pm at Sunshine House, Wigan
  • Tuesday 29 November, 11am to 2pm at Fur Clemt Cafe, Wigan
  • Thursday 1 December, 1pm to 4pm at Family Welfare, Leigh.

Among the current roles available are tenant voice and engagement officer and neighbourhood tenant officer.

Meanwhile, a number of posts across the Reablement Team and the Care to Join Us are also being advertised.

The recruitment events will provide an opportunity to see what a day in the life of these roles would entail and what these teams are looking for.
