New jobs on offer as borough prepares for 2021 Census

Thousands of jobs are up for grabs across the country as part of the Census 2021 recruitment and residents are being encouraged to register their interest.

The Census is a survey, ran by the Office for National Statistics, that happens every 10 years and gives a picture of all the people and households in England and Wales.

It helps to plan and fund public services.

With a variety of roles, from community champions to engagement managers, Wigan Borough residents are being urged to sign up if they are looking for temporary work.

Councillor Nazia Rehman, cabinet member for resources, finance and transformation, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for residents looking for temporary employment with thousands of jobs due to be made available over the coming months.

“The Census plays a really important role in planning and delivering local services and the experience would be great to have on a future CV.”

The first role to be recruited to is census engagement manager which opened for applications this week. The salary range for these roles is from £18.87 to £24.56 per hour dependent on location. More roles will be released over the coming months.
