We are reaching the final few weeks of a milestone year, one in which we have been marking the 50th anniversary of Wigan Borough. It has also seen us launch our new Progress with Unity approach; reaffirming our commitment to working alongside our communities to create the best opportunities and setting us up for a bright future.
This edition of Borough Life highlights some of the projects that bring Progress with Unity to life and the amazing people that make our borough so special. As ever in the winter edition of our magazine, we're able to reflect on some of the biggest moments of the year. In particular, we press the replay button on the unbelievable Robin Park summer music festival gigs where so many of you saw some of the biggest artists in the UK - including hometown hero Richard Ashcroft - at an amazing venue. And, given it been 50 years of the borough, our archives service has been considering what will be remembered from the past 12 months by future generations. Elsewhere, we provide updates on the major redvelopment projects that are transforming our town centres and shine a spotlight once again on the community heroes who triumphed at the Our Town Awards.
There's also an update visit at Haigh Woodland Park to see the progress on the multi-million-pound transformation project and plenty of news from across our district centres. To wrap up this winter edition is the ever-popular What's On Guide that provides a handy overview of activities and events across the borough over the coming months. I hope you enjoy this edition and I hope you have a relaxing holiday season and Happy New Year!
