Our free group walks are suitable for adults of all fitness levels and abilities. We have a range of walks at venues all across Wigan Borough - including Bump ‘n’ Buggy, Nordic Walking, Nature Walks, Waggy Tails, and Bat Walks.

Just bring yourself, have fun and enjoy the great outdoors!

Do I need to book?

No. For the vast majority of our walks, simply turn up at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start time.

We may, on occasion, have special walking events that do require booking. When this is the case, this will be stated as part of the additional information on our timetable.

Things to know

  • All walks are free of charge
  • All walks are dog friendly unless stated. Dogs must be kept on non-extendable leads at all times
  • All walks are for ages 16+ only unless stated
  • Make sure to wear suitable clothing and footwear for the weather.

Big Wigan Walk Week 2024

Join us for the return of the Big Wigan Walk Week (25 May - 2 June 2024) our borough-wide celebration of the joys and benefits of walking.

We have a whole host of free events planned over the course of nine days - including nature-themed strolls around our beautiful local green spaces and walking routes of historical interest.

Self-led walking routes

Prefer to walk alone or with friends and family? These self-led walking routes have been put together to help local people explore and enjoy what Wigan Borough has to offer. The maps highlight local Bee Network routes suitable for both leisure and active travel (e.g. commuting or visiting local amenities). Watch out for more routes being added soon!
