Get Out Get Active (GOGA) is a national programme providing opportunities for disabled and non-disabled people to take part in fun and inclusive activities together. Wigan is one of 18 localities delivering GOGA across the UK.
We deliver weekly inclusive activities, events and volunteering opportunities across Wigan borough. Sessions cater for a range of ages and abilities and will include adventure play, climbing, family activity and much more.
Where are the GOGA sessions?
Weekly sessions are delivered at 2 local facilities:
We welcome support workers and family members to take part in activities, where appropriate, some of our sessions are open family sessions where all are encouraged to take part. Some activities are free with a Be Well card if you are in a caring role.
Do I need to book?
No. The Get Out Get Active programme offers drop-in activities where you can simply turn up without letting us know in advance. However, we advise that you contact us anyway to find the most appropriate activity to attend.
To make an enquiry you will need to contact the Active Inclusive team.
For sessions at Howe Bridge Leisure Centre, Leigh Leisure Centre and Wigan Life Centre you can visit our virtual tours to know what to expect from each building.
Are sessions suitable for wheelchair users?
Sessions are suitable and accessible for all individuals, including those who use a wheelchair. Some activities may require transfer, and hoists are available for some activities.
As well as encouraging people to become active we have various opportunities for people to volunteer with us and support the delivery of GOGA.
