Active Choices offers a diverse programme of activities for anyone aged 16 years and over who require extra support to get started - such as those with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental illness, dementia, sensory impairments or autistic spectrum conditions.
These activities are low cost and operate on a pay as you go basis.
We encourage friends, family and support workers to come along and join in with activities. Some activities are free with a Be Well card if you are in a caring role.
What we offer
Active Choices improves access and choice to get more people in the borough active. You can choose from lots of different physical opportunities including:
- Fitness sessions
- One-to-one and group activities
- Cycling and walking.
We can also help you access our leisure centres - seven across the borough - and support you to access other Be Well sessions, local sport clubs, and other activities in Wigan borough, for up to 12 weeks.
We also provide training for support workers and carers, to ensure physical activity is a part of everyday life. Activities are held at a wide range of locations, from leisure centres to green spaces and neighbourhood community venues.
