Comments on Performance 2006-07
The DfES sought to collect pupil-level teacher-assessment data for the non-core subjects for the first time in 2006. In this first year, there were significant problems encountered with this exercise around the country. In Wigan, data was missing for 5 out of 21 secondary schools. Therefore, due to the inconsistencies in the 2006 KS3 ICT data held by DfES we felt it was inappropriate to submit figures for this subject. However, following advice from the Audit Commission we have included the data, but it should be noted that we have strong reservations about its validity. A figure of 79.2% has been submitted, although it would be recommended that from a statistical viewpoint, the figure should be presented as 80% + or - 5% (ie between 75% and 85%), which is the best estimate of the likely overall performance in Wigan in 2006.
