Laburnum Road Day Centre: The Executive Leader considered a report dealing with the letting of the former Day Centre at Laburnum Road, Lowton for community use purposes by the Lowton Community Church and Starbright Nursery.
The Executive Leader has agreed to take the decision in relation to this item because, by reason of urgency, it cannot await the next meeting of the Cabinet. The reason for urgency is that the Starbright Nursery restarts its services on 15 th June 2006 and wish to be given access to the building on Monday 12 th June 2006 owing to the condition of the premises. The Executive Leader was informed that the Mayor had:
The Executive Leader was requested to authorise the grant of a licence to the two community groups commencing on the 12 th June 2006 for a three day period ending on the 15 th June 2006 with a view to Cabinet considering the longer term occupation of the premises at its meeting on 15 th June 2006.
The alternative option would be not to allow the two community groups access to the premises before Cabinet meets on 15 th June 2006 which would jeopardise the Starbright Nursery opening on 15 th June 2006.
Resolved: (1) The Director of Legal and Property Services is authorised to grant a licence to the Lowton Community Church and Starbright Nursery to occupy the former Laburnum Road Day Centre for the period commencing on 12 th June and ending on 15 th June 2006.
(2) The matter being urgent, and the Mayor having consented, this decision not be subject to call-in.
