Questionnaires will be dropping through the letterboxes of thousands of people during the first two weeks of September, giving them a chance to say how well they think Wigan Council is serving them and their local area.
International market research company Ipsos MORI will be quizzing residents selected at random as part of the biggest ever national survey of what people think of their local council.
The results will help the government to compare Wigan Council’s performance with others from across the country. Currently Wigan is one of the top performing councils and with the help of residents it aims to maintain this position.
Council chief executive Joyce Redfearn is urging everyone who gets a questionnaire to fill it in – the more forms that are returned, the more accurate will be the findings.
She says: “This survey is really important and if you are one of those households that receive it then please do take a little time to complete it.
“We know that people may be less likely to take part in surveys if they are happy with their services, but we need to hear from you whatever your feelings - good, bad or indifferent.
“We will use the results to check where we are doing well and where we need to improve. The survey will give us vital information to help shape the future of our borough.”
