Wigan photographers are the best in Britain – and that’s official!
Wigan 10 Foto Club has just won the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain top club award for the second year running.
As the top club in Lancashire, Wigan represented the county against 32 of the UK’s leading clubs.
The competition was held at Warwick University in front of an audience of around 400 photographers.
As a result Wigan 10 has now been invited to represent Britain to find the top club in the world at a competition to be held in Paris later in the year.
Wigan 10 member Phil Charnock said: “The borough is not just well known nationally for its rugby and football, but also for its arts in the form of photography.”
You can see examples of the club’s work at An Eye for a Picture – an exhibition of pictures by local photographic societies from Leigh, Atherton and Wigan at the Turnpike Gallery in Leigh from September 16th – 30th.
But for Borough Life readers here’s a sneak preview that reveals the quality of work on display.
