Borough Life Summer 2006: Standish, Shevington and Aspull

map of aspul

Queen Victoria Jubilee Gardens, refurbished to its former glory through a partnership between the township forum and British Legion.

In this township, the forum is keen to see new projects that benefit all of its key neighbourhoods, and that local organisations play an important role in delivering.

Plans for better leisure facilities at Shevington recreation ground, including maximising the potential of playing fields and improved parking arrangements, have taken a step forward thanks to the forum.

Standish Community forum and Standish British Legion have produced a book chronicling their successful heritage project. It includes tales of local war heroes plus the story surrounding the refurbishment of Jubilee Gardens and the community events that went alongside. It is available by calling 01942 776153.

If you play an active part in the Standish Aspull Shevington community, or would like to, contact Darren Barton on 01942 776157 about how to get involved with the forum.
