Borough Life Summer 2006: Jargon Buster
Wigan Borough Partnership - this is the major partnership for Wigan Borough. It involves people from all key agencies and services as well as people from local business, faith, community and voluntary groups (Wigan Borough Partnership is sometimes known as the Local Strategic Partnership)
Positive Futures - Provides a wide range of services for young people aged 14 - 25 - youth work, careers advice and guidance.
Township - The borough is split into 10 areas. In each area a local Forum meets as a partnership between the Council, local services and the local community.
LAA (Local Area Agreement) - This is a special contract between the government and Wigan Council. The government has agreed to give the council more money if it can meet tough targets for delivering certain services.
ENCOMPASS - the Community Network draws the various communities of the borough together to ensure they have a strong voice in shaping the future.
